Sam is a Happy Tails Adoption Center success story who manned the kissing booth at Howl-O-Ween on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Sam was homeless in Center the winter of 2023-2024 and was discovered wandering around a neighborhood just a few blocks off the downtown square. A couple of local families started taking care of Sam by providing food and a place to sleep on the porch of a home which was not occupied at the time. It was obvious that Sam had previously been well taken care of, but no one stepped forward to claim him. Among the obvious issues Sam entered the Happy Tails foster program where he was checked out, vetted, given vaccinations and fixed. He weighed in at more than 100 pounds but lost the retained fluid and is now 80 lbs. While Sam was not initially adopted, his foster family became attached to him
