When asked where we rescued Winter from, our response leaves most people really confused. “We didn’t rescue Winter. Winter rescued us”. Because that’s the truth. Winter rescued our broken hearts. Our beloved fur baby, Luna, our first husky, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a week before Christmas. My family was devastated. Luna was gifted to our 9 year old daughter while she was undergoing a bone marrow transplant for a terminal disease in 2015. We didn’t think we’d ever be happy again. Until about a month later, when Winter’s picture popped up on my Facebook feed. I was captivated by her crystal blue eyes and freckled pink nose. My husband and I agreed that our house didn’t feel like home without a wooly fluff ball running around, so we applied to adopt her. A month later, we welcomed Winter into our family. Little did we know, she would instantly mend our broken hearts and show us we could love again. She is the sweetest dog in the entire world. Her first night in our home, she slept with my 9 year old daughter, just like Luna used to every night. It’s like Winter knew exactly what we needed the moment she became a part of our family. We are so blessed and grateful to have this amazing dog in our life. She has completely stolen our hearts. She truly rescued us, and made our family whole again.
