Pet's Story or Bio
Taco was owner surrendered at a high kill shelter in South Carolina. After he was rescued and brought up north we were picked as his new family. However when we arrived to pick him up he had come up heartworm positive and we were told we could not adopt him. After researching what he would need and the fact Taco was very depressed in the shelter they allowed us after his initial treatment to take him home as long as we could care for him properly as he healed. Which we gladly did to get him out of the shelter environment. He made a full recovery. After he decompressed in our home anxieties not present at his brief foster home in the south or when he received treatment in the north came out. I now know this is common as they are now not in survival mode. In this picture he is laying on my husband and myself (not pictured) and that was when he was the happiest. With me working from home I was able to work on it with him. I wanted him to know he was safe and never leaving us. I am proud to say he is a happy loving boy with no separation anxiety now. Living his best life!
