Over 500 Cats Rescued in 2018!
Welcome to Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter, Inc.
Our mission is to provide housing, care, and treatment for sick, injured, abused, homeless, and handicapped stray cats. The shelter will remain a no kill facility. Meaning we do not euthanize healthy cats to make room for new cats. The shelter works with local veterinarians to treat the animals and obtain all necessary vaccinations. Spaying and neutering services are important to help decrease the spread of deadly diseases and help control the unwanted animal population. The shelter also works with local municipalities to control the escalating stray cat population in York county. We strive to strengthen the human-animal relationship through education and a referral service. We speak at numerous organization and clubs throughout the county to spread awareness.
We started rescuing cats in June 2004 thanks to our President, Ann Behrendt. We are an all volunteer non-profit organization operating completely with the help of our generous sponsors and volunteers. We only accept strays into our shelter and do not accept owner surrenders. The majority of our cats come in with health issues and/or need socializing.
We do not have a main facility, and currently have approximately 15 foster homes that house our cats when they first come into our shelter. At these homes the cats receive any necessary healthcare, vaccinations, and socializing needed. They stay with their foster until they are ready to be adopted. At that time, the cats then proceed to one of our 8 satellite adoption centers and are cared for by our many caring volunteers. We make sure all of our cats are up to date on all vaccinations and are spayed/neutered at no cost to the adopters.
We have several events throughout the year to help alleviate some of the costs of caring for our cats.
Please find us on Facebook to RSVP to events & stay updated!
You can also find event updates and other updates on our Instagram account!
At all our events we sell our merchandise which benefits the shelter. We hope to see you at one of our many events! Thank you so much for your support!
