Who Rescued Who
Why should your dog win in this category?Emmy-Lou was rescued by Eric and Alicia, who were dating at the time. Eric and Alicia knew they wanted to add a furry companion to their life but waited for the perfect pup to present itself. When Alicia saw then-“Kate” on the HHDR website, she immediately reserved her and asked for grace with Eric later. The next day at HHDR when Eric and Alicia met “Kate”, it was full of happy tears over the immediate love for this pup. The moment they walked to the grass and sat down with her, she won their hearts by snuggling up to them and rolling over for belly-rubs. The next week was filled with potty-training and lots of love. 7 days after Emmy’s adoption, Eric and Alicia were walking the trails in Ithaca with family and friends, and dogs, when Eric got down on one knee, with Emmy in Alicia’s arms, and asked Alicia to marry him.
Emmy’s new life consists of acres of land at her new home in Lafayette. She goes nearly everywhere with Mom and Dad; from the grocery store to visit family and friends. Emmy is diligently working on training with Mom and Dad to become a volunteer pup through PAWS of CNY.
Emmy’s addition to the family and to the home has been truly invaluable. Mom is a chemical dependency therapist, but always has Emmy waiting at home to greet her with kisses, snuggles, and unending energy and spunk guaranteed to make anyone smile. Dad works in the construction field and works long hours, sometimes out of town. Emmy is always there to encourage Dad to go outside and play or call it a night early when the day has been too long. She is very in tune to how Mom and Dad are feeling and truly comes alongside to make sure they never feel alone. She also can’t help herself but to jump in when Mom and Dad hug each other. She truly doesn’t want to miss a thing!
It is now unimaginable to think of a life without Emmy-Lou.
