Why should your dog win in this category?
When we first adopted Charlie, he was terrified to even get in our car. He cowered and shook with fear at the bottom of our stairs, and slept under our coffee table the first few nights. He didn’t know how to sit, lay down, or even what his own name was. Our first walk as a family left me frightened because Charlie lunged towards every car he saw. Fast forward 4 months and you wouldn’t believe how playful, energetic, and loving this pup now is! We brought him to work one on one with a professional dog trainer to help him (and us!) be his best self. He was extremely successful in learning lots of new tricks and basic obedience. He is also incredibly improved on his leash; he's able to go for walks and runs and not even bat an eyelash at a car! He is incredibly smart and super snuggly. He continues to make amazing progress with learning new tricks; he even knows how to turn left and turn right! He is able to sit and wait for his food, which was a challenge at first for our impulsive young terrier. He loves playing with toys, especially those that squeak or that are shaped like bones. He has a seemingly never ending supply of energy that he loves to use on daily walks, runs, and chasing balls or squirrels in the backyard. While his physical transformation is quite striking (as you can tell by the before and after pictures!), the biggest change we have seen is in the demeanor and confidence of our pup. He once was distant and aloof, and is now a sweet snuggler. His favorite thing to do is to curl up in a ball on your lap or chest under any blankets you may have on. He is just as happy cuddling as he is outdoors running around. He loves all people and every kid he has met, and is less afraid of our stairs (something we are still working on). Thank you to Helping Hounds for making our family complete! Even if Charlie does not win, we are very happy to raise awareness and funds for your incredible organization!
