Breastfeeding Story
Adam went to the NICU straight away after being born. He had trouble breathing. He was born in the RGV and I had him transferred to Texas Childrens. We ended up moving here at the end if June for his medical care. I pumped day and night. He couldnt latch for medical reasons. We found out he had a brain malformation and it caused so much stress, it killed whatever little supply I had in the first place. I tried to up my supply through supplements, pumping up to 12x a day, and trying to relax. Nothing worked. I advocated for him to receive donor milk in the hospital. It was a struggle. He was just discharged after spending almost 3 months in the NICU. At home we were able to comfort latch but he still has trouble and takes his breastmilk through a G Tube. We found a private donor to help us until he is a year old. Adam is our miracle and I wouldn't change our breastfeeding journey if could. It's all been a learning and loving experience.
