Breastfeeding Story
I always took it for granted that when you have a baby, breastfeeding is how you feed them. But I'd never heard of a tongue tie before - just thought it was a figure of speech! Our nursing journey has been rocky, starting with a tongue tie we initially elected not to revise since nursing took forever, but weight gain and growth was good, followed by a supply drop thanks to the tie and Hurricane Harvey stress (perfect timing), then the tie revision, partial reattachment, second revision, and ongoing feeding therapy and mouth exercises. But through it all, this little lady has stubbornly insisted on sticking with her mama milk, including exclusively breastfeeding for 7 months. She may not always sleep... but she will always nurse! We're just over 15 months in now and things seem to be slowing down, with the rest of the world so interesting to explore and nursing being mostly tied to naps and overnight now. But I will never forget her determination and all our cuddle time in making breastfeeding work!
