Why is your dog a hero?
Physically abused, neglected and left to die on the street after being hit by a car in 2017, a rescue team found Truffles covered in blood and clinging to life. She was quickly transported and prepped for emergency surgery but in the process, doctors discovered she was pregnant. Her life was saved but she needed additional surgeries on her left hind leg. The surgeries were delayed since she was about to deliver. Truffles gave birth to six puppies but unfortunately due to so much trauma, only two lived. Unsuccessful surgeries and excessive nerve damage forced Truffles to eventually have her entire left hind leg amputated. Truffles continued to nurse her two living pups in spite of everything. Her puppies quickly found homes but Truffles still had to go through recovery, rehabilitation and spaying. Truffles was adopted twice and returned both times until she finally found her forever home!

Truffles is without a doubt a hero because she is an amazing example of determination, second chances and a daily reminder to never give up on life and in finding a purpose! She continues to bring inspiration and joy to others every day! (It is amazing what dogs can teach us through their resilience!) Truffles is very loving, loyal, has a playful personality and loves to run in spite of her disability. She is extremely intelligent, focused and great at playing search and find!
