Why is your dog a hero?
Hi everyone, I would like to introduce Max to you! We are a proud firefighter family with my husband serving as a firefighter for over 20 years and I was a firefighter In WA.

We rescued Max when he was four months old. We were told he was not a lovable/cuddly dog and didn’t like affection. But what we have found as we have gotten to know Max over the past few years that he is the most incredibly strong and loving dog.

I don’t know what the previous owners saw in him, but we found he just didn’t know how to be loved properly. He has the most unconditional love I’ve ever seen in a dog. His heart is so pure and his loyalty so strong. He loves nonstop pets and loves to play chase. He’s a classic example of why everyone deserves a second chance. He wasn’t a bad dog, he was just a dog and didn’t know what true love was.

He loves to give kisses so much that his nick name is Sir Licks -A-Lot. He literally follows us from room to room looking for more pets and love. And the fact that he brings love and joy to everyone he meets. He knows when you’re down and he gives you the love that you need to bring you up.

To me that is a perfect reason to be a mascot for an organization like the Los Angeles city fire department. The department exemplifies trust and loyalty. And Max couldn’t be a better example of that
