Why is your dog a hero?
Lizzy was adopted from LA Animal Services in November of 2022. She was the first dog I looked at, and right away I knew we were meant to be together.

People who have met Lizzy describe her as “confident”, “fearless”, “loyal”, “modest”, and “quiet”. All of which are key traits of a hero.

A hero always puts themselves last. That is the attitude Lizzy has toward life. A true protector, you will never hear a growl, or even a bark, come out of Lizzy, but she will always place herself in front of you. She’s a quiet presence that assures you everything is going to be alright.

The comfort she provides is why she is my personal hero. Throughout my life I have battled issues with insecurity and social anxiety. Lizzy has greatly helped me overcome a lot of these thought habits just by leading by example. No person or creature is fearless, but a hero manages their fear and uses it for good. Lizzy is a cautious canine, but does not shy away from anything she is unsure of.

And last, but most importantly, she is just an excellent friend. She has the ability to show empathy when you're feeling down, be silly and make jokes when you’re happy, and throw a little bit of sass when you deserve it.

To me being a hero isn’t just about the big feats of courage, it's about maintaining a comforting presence to everyone around you. That makes Lizzy a hero.
