Why is your dog a hero?
We adopted our sweet 14 year old mini weenie dog Joanne 2 years ago from The Pawerful Rescue in Texas. She was found as a stray but was registered to the American Kennel Club and likely used as a breeder dog. When we got her, she had a mouth full of rotten teeth and her coat was in terrible shape because she was so full of infection. She was completely shut down and scared of everybody and everything. Over the last two years, we’ve removed all of her rotten teeth, gotten her all the veterinary care she needs and showed her nothing but the love she deserves. She’s feisty for an older gal but loving and sweet too! She absolutely loves her walks, sunbathing in the yard, food, car rides and cuddling. We weren’t sure what we were getting into adopting a senior dog but we have no regrets. She fills our hearts with so much joy and we’re so happy and honored to be giving her the life she deserves in her older years. Joanne’s life was rough but now she’s the Queen of our castle and is living her best life! She’s our hero and is honored to raise money for the LAFD Foundation.
