Rhu is a bold, brave lady who was rescued from the streets of Bakersfield. She hates fire more than anyone and has nothing but respect for firefighters, especially the LAFD, who put their lives on the line to keep us all safe.

Her full name is Rhu Barb, which, when said quickly, makes people think she’s an ingredient in a summer pie. She’s not thrilled about being confused for a plant, but she’s happy to make people smile. These days, Rhu is living her best life in Los Angeles with her two dads, chasing squirrels, playing with other dogs and kids, and doing whatever it takes to sneak a little cream cheese. Her least favorite food is sardines, and she’d like to keep it that way.

Rhu should win because she represents what rescue dogs and the LAFD are all about—resilience, courage, and second chances. She wants other dogs to know that it’s okay to be afraid sometimes and that being small doesn’t mean you can’t be brave. Most of all, she wants to show everyone that rescue dogs make the best friends, and that every dog deserves a loving home.
