Hi, I’m Riley!
My mom adopted me a year ago and I couldn’t be happier. I love my older, but smaller, big brother (dog), Leo. I definitely have the most energy in my house, but I know mom’s favorite thing to do with me is snuggle.
Mom did a DNA test on me, thinking, maybe I’d have some Dalmatian in me. But to her surprise, no Dalmatian, just bulldog varieties which was expected. But to everyone’s surprise, turns out I am also half poodle! Half, wow!
My mom always calls me a goofy goose, whatever that means, but it’s always followed up with laughter. That’s my favorite part!I figured out that when I make my ears stand up straight like one of my Frenchie relatives she can’t contain herself. She also gets such a kick out of when we have full on conversations back and forth. It’s great she can speak dog, but she really has to work on her accent. She is always checking on me and chuckling, especially when I sleep spread eagle, on my back, with my head hanging off the couch. Come to think of it, mom calls me a goofy goose for a lot of other things too, but I love how happy she seems.
Lately, mom’s been saying that she’s starting the foster to adopt process, I keep thinking to myself what could our next family member be… turns out she’s not talking about another animal, she’s talking about tiny humans! At first, I was kind of nervous, but I sort of realized that it’ll be like when grandma and grandpa come visit. It just means there will be more hands to give me belly scratches and sneak me food under the table, so I guess I’m OK with it.
So while we wait for that to happen, I just keep hanging out with my big brother Leo. I’m teaching him how to play with toys (he came from a very bad home before he met mom) and to play chase for fun. He’s teaching me that if I listen to mom I get treats. It’s a pretty great trade.
I love being with my family every second of the day!
