Hello, everyone! My name is Cooper, and I am honored to be here today as a Critical Incident Stress K9 for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Today, I want to share why I believe I am deserving of the Howling Hero’s Contest.

As a K9, my main job is to bring joy and comfort to my Fire family and the wonderful residents of Los Angeles. It's not just a job for me; it’s a mission to support those who go above and beyond for our community every single day.

I had the privilege of serving during the Pacific Palisades Wildfire incident. That time was filled with uncertainty and stress for many. I can tell you that the simple act of being there, wagging my tail and offering companionship, brought smiles during some of the hardest days.

I remember one firefighter, completely overwhelmed, who knelt down to pet me. In that moment, I saw the weight of stress lift from their shoulders. It’s incredible how a little love can make a big difference.

Through my work, I’ve connected with countless individuals—firefighters, their families, and residents in need of comfort. It’s heartwarming to see the relief on their faces when I arrive, reminding them that they are not alone, even in the toughest times.

But it’s not just about the good moments. My commitment to being there during critical situations requires training, discipline, and resilience. And with the support of my human handlers, I’ve learned how to be a source of strength and joy for others.

I believe that heroism comes in many forms, not just in heroic acts during emergencies, but also in the quiet moments of support we offer each other. I strive to inspire those around me to embrace hope and resilience.

So today, I ask you to consider the impact that compassion and companionship can have in our community. I may not wear a cape, but I believe my role as a K9 hero is just as important. Together, we can foster positive change and support one another through life's challenges.
