After I was bit as a child, I was always afraid of dogs. My wife convinced me to give dogs a second chance, and so we rescued Charlee as a puppy. Once we brought her home, she started getting sick and having pain after a few months, and we went to countless vet visits to figure out what was wrong, and after the first 2 years of her life, undergoing 2 surgeries, our third vet found a 5inch long stick that was walled off in her abdomen nearly pushing through her kidney. We are lucky that she survived that, but ever since, she has been the happiest girl. She loves meeting people, chewing bones, and taking long walks. Through tough times and then our subsequent adventures, She has helped me learn how to love dogs. To me, Charlee is the embodiment of the sentiment, “Who Rescued Who?”
