We worked with the Humane Society to foster Bernie after she was rescued from an awful hoarding situation, being one of the few that survived starvation. We knew she was going to be a foster fail as soon as she entered our home and opened right up to our family, overflowing with love now that she was safe and secure. We named her after the Swiss physicist Daniel Bernoulli, but took one look into those crossed blue eyes and knew that she was our bErNie. Two years later, she's reached a healthy weight, made a full recovery from heart worms, and is now happy as can be -- wrestling with her Aussie sister and eating ALL of the bananas.
