This is a picture of my dog Ella, a greyhound and German Shepherd mix. We celebrated her 12th "Gotcha Day" on Monday April 25. We gave her a party hat and a party with a few of best friends--Birdie and Senbei. We walked her all over Apex and our neighborhood in her hat--she loved it, and our neighbors and friends loved seeing her like this. To our knowledge, Ella was in great health and excellent fitness--not only for her age, but for any age. However, just one week later we were at the Blue Pearl emergency veterinary hospital--Ella was found to have internal bleeding and an inoperable, cancerous mass in her abdomen. On Monday May 2, my wife and I had to make the hard choice to put Ella down--we had her for 12 years and 7 days. For many hours of her life, she was my couch companion while I enjoyed NODA beers and watched golf, baseball, football etc. I'd love to see the face of such a good girl grace the can of a delicious tallboy :) Thank you for your consideration - John Bouldry
