This is our bloodhound, Ellie Mae. Once a rescue herself, Ellie Mae found a home here 13 years ago. We weren’t looking for her but she picked us anyhow and it’s darn hard to say no to puppy hound eyes and long floppy ears. At her ripe old age, Ellie Mae is no longer the cutest, prettiest, or, well… even mildly attractive dog on the block. She can’t hear and she can barely see but what she lacks in looks she makes up in spades with love and loyalty. She has played fur mama to 2 human babies over the years and she’s tolerated the addition of a bloodhound sister. Once a spunky and playful hound, Ellie Mae spends most her time doing what good old hounds do — eating and holding the brick patio down. She’s still our true companion and she stays by our side. She proves that rescues can be the best additions to any family and we’d love nothing more than to kick back on the brick patio and enjoy a cold brew featuring her not-so-pretty but dang loving face on it.
