Tree: From Too Much to Too Iconic

Tree is 75% husky, 25% German shepherd, and 100% chaos gremlin. He was returned three times for being “too energetic” and “too mouthy,” aka a dog with a personality. After striking out in Charlotte, he was transferred to Asheville for a mountain-fresh start… only to be rerouted back after Hurricane Helene hit. And that’s how Tree ended up back in Charlotte — and into my home.

I wasn’t looking to adopt another dog (I already had a very fluffy Samoyed named Nanuk), but Tree was spiraling in the shelter. So I offered to foster him. He met Nanuk, they immediately became soulmates, and I immediately became a foster fail.

Since adopting him in December 2024, Tree’s gone from over-the-top to totally thriving. He’s off anxiety meds, full of love, and — plot twist — a certified brewery dog. If his face were on a beer can, he’d move product. You’d see those giant ears and think, “Yep, that’s my emotional support IPA.”

Tree’s story is proof that even the “too much” dogs are just waiting for the right people — and maybe the right beer.
