Toby is a 10(ish) year old lab/husky/chow mix with a heart of gold and the sweetest & gentlest demeanor you’ll ever find in a dog. He loves meeting new people and dogs, especially ones smaller and younger than him!

Toby has been a hit at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outdoor bars & restaurants: he truly loves new people and places. But his favorite place may be … the vet!! Every noontime walk we take leads us across the street to the vet's office, where he enjoys receiving many pets & lots of love from the staff, some of whom helped him through an illness 18 months ago.

Although Toby is not an HSC alum, he is a rescue who shows every day how grateful he is to have a fur-ever home. Toby “grew up” in Charlotte, but for reasons unknown, was abandoned in Sumter, SC when he was approximately seven years old. He unfortunately found himself on “death row” at a shelter, but a rescue group from Long Island saved him along with 15 other dogs. I adopted him a few months later and he has brought smiles to countless faces ever since. Coincidentally, I had plans to move from Long Island to Charlotte before I adopted Toby, so he is back in his hometown 😊
