Meet Martin, a resilient, gentle soul who found his way into our hearts on the island of St. Martin. When we first met him, he was a stray wandering the beaches, covered in hot spots and politely asking tourists for bites of their fish tacos. Despite his condition, he was sweet, calm, and eager for connection.

Martin followed us everywhere on long walks through town, lazy days at the beach, and quiet dinners under the stars. He became part of our vacation, and quickly, part of our hearts. When we took him to the local vet, he patiently received his vaccinations, proving just how trusting and good-natured he truly is.

As our trip came to an end, we knew we couldn’t leave him behind. With the kindness of the local community and a little determination, we brought Martin home and gave him the loving, safe life he always deserved.

Martin’s journey from island stray to beloved family member is a story of resilience, kindness, and second chances. He’s more than deserving of this recognition not just for surviving, but for never losing his gentle spirit along the way.
