As a former HSC employee, I should’ve known better than to “just stop by.” But then I saw a tiny orange kitten — 16 weeks old, newly arrived, with an old injury that meant he’d had a back leg amputated.

They said “medical foster.” I said “sure.” Jack said: “Surprise, I live here now.”

Was he terrified of everything at first? Absolutely. Did he haunt the space under my bed like a tiny Victorian ghost? Without question.
Now? He OWNS the bed. He IS the chaos.

In classic orange cat fashion, he is severely lacking in brain cells but overflowing with personality. Low IQ, high drama. His favorite activities include:
• bullying his brother (also an HSC alum — solidarity, I guess?)
• flinging things off my nightstand at 3am like it’s his full-time job
• playing fetch
• yowling at the door to the “big boy room” (a.k.a. outside — a place he has never been but believes belongs to him)
