Penny Lane was a rescue transferred from a shelter in Alabama to the Charlotte Humane Society due to overcrowding. Within the CHS shelter, she was in the area for non-socialized cats. However, she was very friendly and closely resembled our cat who had recently passed away. At home, we had a rescue dog with very high stress and anxiety. We adopted Penny Lane in hopes that she would befriend our dog and improve his life. Surprisingly enough, Penny Lane became his therapy cat, his best friend and a loving companion. She grooms him like her own child, she snuggles with him and she calms him in a very nurturing way. She jumps up to his side to rub herself on him to let him know that she loves him. They share kisses. They sunbath while lying next to each other on the deck. He gets very concerned when she is out of his sight for too long. For a cat of 9 pounds and a dog of 65 pounds to be so closely attached is just amazing. Penny Lane seems to be the one who rescued our dog! She’s a hero in her own way.
