Our family adopted Nala from animal control in Charlotte in 2009. I was 12 when we rescued her, and struggling with moving to a new area away from what I’d always known. I had wanted a dog my whole life. Adopting her made me a more happy teen and brought such joy and responsibility to my life. She has been a loving and sweet companion since then. She goes on hikes to Crowder’s Mountain and loves going on daily walks in her neighborhood, Cameron Wood.
Nala collapsed from internal bleeding in January 2023 and had to get her spleen removed. This is often caused by cancer, and the life expectancy is 3-6 months. Cancer was found in her spleen, but she has exceeded the life expectancy already by two years! We love our miracle dog.
