How has your dog impacted your life or the lives of others?
Most people and dogs get diabetes when they are older, but this was not the case for Max and me. When I adopted Max, he was just a 1-year-old pup who required twice-daily insulin shots to stay alive, and I was also a kiddo when I was diagnosed with Type 1. Now Max is my “diabuddy," who gracefully accepts his condition without question. He also helped show me just how much love and care my mom, Margie, gave me while I was growing up. Until I was rushing home from work to give Max his shot and dinner, worrying about his glucose while we were apart, and taking him to specialists, I did not appreciate how much space in her life my diabetes took up. I adopted Max from Pima Animal Care Center in 2015.
