Mackaroon the mouse was a “feeder mouse” that was rescued from the tank of a classroom pet snake. Her presence was noticed by an intrepid Spanish teacher named Carolina who taught in the classroom next door. After looking at the freshly satiated snake and conferring with the Science teacher, it was decided that the snake did not need this “extra” mouse, so Carolina found a new home for the little mouse to live in her classroom. She named her Mack-aroon after their school, Mackintosh Academy, and gave her a life she never could have dreamed of as a feeder mouse. This gift is in memory of sweet Mackaroon as feeder mice are not bred for longevity, but a reminder that every animal rescue can bring unexpected love and joy to all!
