Your Pet's Story or Bio
Sheila was left at HES in October 2014. She was 4 years old and had glaucoma in her left eye and cataracts in both. When HES first contacted me that they had a blind dog, I thought she would have been much older. The vet said she was just the product of bad genes. I started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her surgery, and in November 2014 she had surgery at Veterinary Ophthalmology Services in Nashville. She now has a prosthetic cornea in her left eye (blind) and limited vision in her right eye. She will be on eye meds multiple times daily for the rest of her life. She has become the spokesdog for For the Love of Dogs. Sheila has been available for adoption for over almost 3 years, but there has not been much interest due to the maintenance and expense involved with her care. None of this has deterred Sheila from living a normal life. She is a happy dog and loves to go to events. This picture is Sheila modeling shoes for our shoe drive in 2016. She loves dressing up! Please vote for Sheila so that her story will be told and show that special needs dogs can lead a normal life. Plus, she is really cute in those shoes!
