Boof was adopted at the Humane Society. The first time I saw his picture online, I knew he was my dog. Several weeks prior to adopting him, I put down my dog of 14 years. I tried to tell myself that by letting her go I was making room for a new friend that desperately needed my help. It wasn’t until I brought Boof home that the weight of the sadness lifted. While I still haven’t scattered her ashes, I also can’t imagine not having my boy Boof. The surest way to recover from grief is by devoting your love to someone else that needs it.
