Macy’s Sunshine

In November 2020, the world outside was a little quieter, a little slower. But at the Humane Society of Morgan County, one pup was anything but. Her puppy name was “Laurel” —though she now answers to “Macy”—a bundle of boundless energy wrapped in soft fur and bright eyes. She had waited patiently, day after day, for someone who saw the light in her spirit and the sweetness in her heart.

Then, one crisp autumn afternoon, that someone came.

From the moment she stepped paw into her new home, Macy made it clear she was no ordinary dog. She is a sprinter, a stick-chaser, a water-dasher, and a professional squeaky toy squeaker. Nothing brings her more joy than the feeling of sun on her back and cool grass beneath her paws, running full tilt into a world that had finally opened up for her.

But Macy isn’t just about energy and play. She is thoughtful in her way—cautious with new people, observing before trusting. Yet, when she lets someone in, it is wholehearted. Fierce loyalty bloomed from her like wildflowers, vibrant and untamed.

She loves hard, plays harder, and always finds the sunshine—whether outside or in the hearts of those lucky enough to be her people.

Macy wasn’t rescued. She does the rescuing, every single day.
