- Photos and voting will be accepted on the contest website from 9:00AM EST May 11, 2020 until May 28, 2020 at 12:00PM EST
- One entry per pet
- One pet per photo, per submission
- Multiple pets must be made as separate submissions
- All pets are eligible to enter; we want to encourage pets of all types to join the contest! Your pet does NOT have to be adopted from HSLM or live in London to be eligible to enter the contest. Photos must only contain domestic pets (no people or wildlife).
- Photos and pet biographies will be approved by HSLM, any entries that violate the guidelines will be removed at the sole discretion of HSLM. Photos deemed offensive, indecent or obscene will be removed from the contest.
- Entrance fee for contest $20 per entry. This is eligible for a tax receipt and 20 votes towards the pet submitted
- Memorial submissions are welcomed, a great tribute to a beloved companion to honour their memory. Unfortunately, In Memory photos will are ineligible to win (despite value raised) but will be included on our Honourable Mentions page in the calendar.
- The 12 winners with the highest number of votes will be asked to
- Bring their pet to Humane Society London & Middlesex, 624 Clarke Rd., London, ON N5V 3K5 in order to have their pictures taken on Saturday July 18, 2020 (*subject to change due to COVID-19 updates) with Danielle! This is a stylized photo shoot and winners will be notified on May 29, 2020 with full details.
*This is subject to change based on the current protocols in place regarding COVID-19, health and safety is our top priority and we will adjust our plans based on recommendations available at the time of the scheduled photo shoot.
- The voting will end at 12:00PM EST Thursday May 28, 2020
- If there is a tie for any of the top 12 vote spots, the tie breaker will be determined by the individual who submitted their entry first and this will be displayed accordingly on the home page under the leader board. The pets who are displayed as the top 12 at the end of the competition on the home page under the leader board will be the final winners.
- Votes are $1 each. $20 will count for 20 Votes and $50 will count for 50 votes, etc.
- Photos become the property of Humane Society London & Middlesex. By submitting a photo entry, you warrant and represent that your entry is your own original work created by you and that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to your entry materials. Humane Society London & Middlesex reserves the right to disqualify at any time any photo it determines to be unsuitable. If you submit an entry that is copyrighted by another individual, you are responsible for any legal action the copyright holder takes against you. You agree to indemnify Humane Society London & Middlesex and hold them harmless from and against any claims of any nature arising in connection with the Humane Society London & Middlesex Calendar Photo Contest. Entrants grant Humane Society London & Middlesex all rights of ownership, reproduction and royalty-free indiscriminate use of entries and photographs for any purpose. By submitting a photo to the Humane Society London & Middlesex Calendar Photo Contest, the artist agrees to give and grant to Humane Society London & Middlesex its employees, nominees, agents, successors and assigns, unlimited authorization, consent and permission to publish and use, any and all information about the animal and any and all reproductions of animal's likeness (photographic or otherwise), and with or without the use or disclosure of guardian's name.
When submitting your pet's photo for voting, please keep in mind city bylaws and leash laws and keep your pets safe:
- Dogs are recommended to be shown wearing a collar and ID tag.
- Cats outdoors should be in a safe environment (preferably in an enclosure/ catio or with a harness on) wearing a collar and ID tag.
- Domestic birds and other small animals are recommended to be only photographed indoors.
