Pet's Story or BioZero is about two and a half years old, and was rescued earlier this year, having been found tied up outside in a yard for most of his life. He was filthy, his nails were out of control, he had no vaccines, hadn't been neutered, and had not actually been eating dog food, but whatever leftovers his owners saw fit to give him. As he was tied up constantly outside on a pinch collar, he had a pretty large neck injury when he was rescued.
Fast forward about five months! He's adapting really well to a loving home, all caught up on health and grooming issues, doing well in his training, and even getting along with his little kitty brother Orbit.
We just got back the DNA results, and Zero is full of surprises! SVCC thought that he was a Corgi/Malamute mix. We thought that he was a husky / Corgi mix. Turns out, he is about 40% husky, 20% Chihuahua (!) And the other 40% is pretty evenly split between Corgi, German Shepherd dog, Border Collie, and Australian Cattle Dog. He's still 100% Zero!
Zero loves that he gets to go on walks every day, go to a great dog park several times a week, pitch in as the cutest intern at Netflix, and make lots of friends (human and doggo) at his daycare. He loves tug o war, and while he doesn't understand fetch, he loves to grab a ball, show it to other dogs and try to get them to chase him.
A lot of people ask where his name comes from. I named him after a zero-sum game, which is a game where someone has to lose out for someone to win. Ever since Zero came into our lives, I feel like someone else's loss was definitely our and his gain. If people aren't familiar with the term, Zero is also the name of the ghost dog in The Nightmare Before Christmas, with the big giant head and no legs, which is pretty much our Zero's body type! If they're not familiar with that movie, we like to say that he goes from 0 to 100 if you have food.
Thanks for stopping by for a good cause!
