Pet's Story or BioWe had talked about getting a dog, but took a while finding one. While surfing rescue sites, the mugshot of a tiny, white, scraggly dog with a funny grin came up. And that was it! Within a nanosecond, a deposit had been made. People think we rescued her from the pound. But we actually rescued her from the six other families who wanted her if we didn’t. The rescue site in Southern California said that she was from a puppy mill, and had been surrendered to a vet with a life-threatening illness (Parvo). Fortunately for Sally--and us--she recovered fully, and hitched a ride on a flight with Pilots & Paws to meet us.
When we brought Sally home, she was a frightened little 5-month-old puppy. She was afraid of her own shadow, and would roll over with all four paws up in the air when another dog approached her. To help socialize her with other dogs, we signed her up for HSSV’s new dog park and classes. She jumped right into the program with basic manners, reliable recall, and agility classes. She quickly gained her confidence through playing with her pals at HSSV’s dog park, and at doggie daycare. She still has kisses for everyone, but she’s also assertive when she needs to be; her doggie daycare fans say that she ‘leads’ her daycare group. Sally is happy and healthy and thriving!
Your vote for Sally is a contribution to HSSV, so please vote early and often, and give generously to HSSV so other pets can find their forever home.
