Pet's Story or Bio
Sammy joined our family in January 2011. She was just under a year old and had recently recovered from a hip injury after being hit by a car. Thankfully the Peninsula Humane Society, where we adopted her, was able to get her up and running again. It's a cute run, by the way, her back legs hop sort of like a rabbit.
Sammy's journey through obedience school was a bit rocky, we were worried she would not graduate; and not because she was a bad dog, but because she was easily distracted. She really just wanted love and pets from everyone at the classes, she was not motivated by food. Thankfully she sits, shakes and lays down whenever we ask. She is also really good at recall!
She's a loving dog who brought new life to our 7 year old Daschund, who was not as active. Sammy got him to play and act as a puppy again, along with constantly loving on him (which I think he secretly enjoyed). Sadly her brother passed a few months ago - they had 6 wonderful years together.
We recently discovered how much Sammy loves babies. Our friend had twins, and when they are over, Sammy is right by their sides, checking on them at every instance. She is the most loving dog I have ever met.
She loves trips to the beach, though she will not go near the water. At the beach, or at the park, she is very social with other dogs and people, though she can be shy at times with strangers. Her favorite activity is walks and we try to give her as many as we can. I love how excited she gets when she sees us going for the leash. She is also the best alarm clock ever, making sure we get up in time to walk her before heading to work.
Life is so much better with Sammy a part of our family!
