Peanut Prince and Lady Phoebe (shelter names were Steinbeck and Evie)
Pet's Story or Bio
Peanut Prince, a tiny kitten when adopted from the HSTB shelter, and Lady Phoebe, a mature female, were among some 200 black cats in the shelter when I was looking for a new furry friend. That day, Peanut, just about 5 weeks old and still groggy from his neutering surgery, could only snuggle against me as I held him and surveyed the full grown female with the silky coat in the visiting room, trying to make up my mind which to adopt. The unsteady kitten tugged at my heartstrings. The female made me laugh with her "runway walk", a swaying sashay unlike anything I'd ever seen. "Y'know, you could adopt both", the shelter counselor said. And, so I did. Today, the pair rule the roost, Phoebe raised Peanut to tomcat-hood and they still groom each other, play together, sleep and eat together and, when the mood strikes them, co-author booklets about their world.
