Designer of the Year
Julie Paul is an Ojibway/Cree innovative artist from Ochapowace First Nation in Saskatchewan. She is Co-Owner, Designer and President of Julie Paul Designs Inc. With the invention of imitation beadwork in 2015, the designer has been able to create Indigenous pow wow regalia for a vast amount of customers in Canada, USA and New Zealand. The designer crossed over to fashion in 2018, when she discovered the many fashion & apparel opportunities that were possible with the novel bead idea. The designer thanks Jesus for the gift, which has enabled her to make dancing more affordable, while maintaining a beautiful beaded appearance. Goals
To master the art of bridal gown design and production, to open a beautiful store front that will include Indigenous regalia, bridal fashion, formal wear and youth apparel. To promote Julie Paul Designs as a clothing line for all people to wear. My clothing line...
My 2019 clothing line included a lot of turquoise and red to honour Missing and Murdered Indian Women and Girls, incorporated various tribal floral designs, symbolic native designs of bears, eagles and the medicine wheel.
