My Pet's Story
I adopted Cocoa Bean from IAR a year ago. She had previously been found as a stray, weighing in at only 38 pounds (her healthy weight is 60). When I adopted her, she had physically recovered but was still skittish: fearful of loud noises, storms, trash cans, and cardboard boxes. I spent many months carrying her down 3 flights of stairs at night because she was so afraid of the dark! Despite her fears, she loved car rides, so we went hiking and camping frequently. Now, a year later, Cocoa is confident! Her big grin is almost always on and she loves playing with her dog-friend, Charlie, often doing crazy zoomies when she can’t contain herself. While loud noises still make her jump, I don’t have to carry her down the stairs or avoid trash cans anymore. She is sweet, cuddly and attached to her people. Cocoa Bean is one special pup!
