My Story
Hi, I'm Jake. My first owner said she didn't have enough time for me and dropped me off at a crowded shelter when I about 1.5 years old.

Life is Labs got me out of the shelter and I went to a foster home with Mama Joyce and Papa Mike. But, I was a *little* too interested in one of their cats, so Life is Labs asked if anyone else could foster me.

My mom asked my dad if they could foster me and he said yes! So they met Mama Joyce and Papa Mike, then took me home for 10 days. Ha, ha, ha! They were madly in love with me within hours and decided I should be their forever dog.

Now, I have a mom, a dad, a human brother and a lab/husky sister named Wrigley. She doesn't always appreciate it when I want to play, but puts up with me. And she taught me all about our family, the good places to look for squirrels in the yard, and where mom and dad keep the treats.

I help Wrigley protect our house and family from the mailman, cars that drive by, and dogs that dare to walk down our sidewalk. I also keep my boy toasty warm at night by cuddling with him and help our mom wake him up for school by giving him big, slobbery kisses.

When my mom works from home, I snore through her conference calls loudly enough for others on the phone to hear.

I'm so happy Life is Labs saved me from that loud, crowded shelter and helped me find my family.


My favorite pastime is
I can't choose just one! Chasing Kongs and tennis balls, then bringing them back to someone - anyone! - to throw them again. I also love walks, taking up as much room as possible on the couch and between my parents' pillows on their bed, and eating. (I am a lab, after all.)

The best thing anyone's ever done for me is
When Life is Labs saved me from an overcrowded shelter. As an owner surrender, my time was very limited and I could have been put to sleep the same day I was dropped off :(

I can't live without
My family. They feed me, cuddle with me, pet me, throw Kongs for me and so much more. I can't imagine my life without them.

The naughtiest thing I've ever done is
Too many to name, but I'm most famous for jumping up on the dining room table and unmatching pairs of socks on it. (My family isn't "fancy" - they use the dining room table to fold laundry on instead of eat on.) After I got up there, I didn't know how to get down! Mom found me, pulled out a chair, and helped me, then told me not to do that again. I didn't listen.

The funniest thing I've ever done is
I have to choose just one? Hmm ... I guess it's when I do my impression of a whirling dervish when Mom's going to feed me. I spin in circles with slobber flying everywhere.

My favorite place to go is
Anywhere my mom is! The bathroom, the kitchen, the living room ...

I'm completely obsessed with
Kongs and tennis balls.
