My Story
Hi my name is Ben. I was found running up and down a main street in Connecticut where I was picked up by animal control. No one came for me so For the Love of Labs in Connecticut sprang me from the shelter. My mom and dad saw me on Facebook and new immediately they wanted me to be part of their family. I was adopted by Roy and Kim in March of 2013 at the age of 10 and came all the way from Connecticut to Florida on a "lab train" to spend my golden years with my new family. Many volunteers drove "legs" from Connecticut to Florida to help me reach my new family. I enjoy laying by the pool, helping out with the horses at the barn and going on the boat with my Dad. I love my beagle brother Sammy and my hound/lab sister Ella very much. I also loved my many lizard friends on the pool deck as you can see in my picture. I never hurt them, I just wanted them to be my friend. Last year I started coughing up a little blood so my mom and dad rushed me to the vet and they found I had lung cancer. My mom and dad took me to the University of Florida and had the tumor and half of my lung removed. I felt so much better and had another great year with my family instead of a short 3 months I was given if I hadn't had the surgery. My dad took me every where he could because he knew how much I loved spending time with him. I was definitely a Daddy's boy (but I loved my mom very much too). Unfortunately my mom and dad had to say goodbye to me very unexpectedly on July 21, 2017. I started having uncontrollable seizures and the vet thinks the cancer may have come back in my brain. My parents didn't want to say goodbye but they also didn't want me to suffer because I had been such a special dog to them. They stayed with me and comforted me, telling me how much they loved me and that I was the best dog ever, until I went to sleep peacefully.

My favorite pastime is
Hanging out at the barn and on the boat with my Dad.

The best thing anyone's ever done for me is
My mom and dad love me with all their heart and would do anything for me!

I can't live without

The naughtiest thing I've ever done is
Trying to eat horse poop and hide it in my mouth so my mom and dad wouldn't find out. The drool gave me away though!

The funniest thing I've ever done is
I like to "talk" to my mom and dad by making grumbling sounds at them.

My favorite place to go is
The barn

I'm completely obsessed with
