Kona settles easily, doesn’t fuss, and brings a peaceful presence wherever she goes. Her combination of speed, affection, and quiet confidence makes her a truly special dog.


Your Pet's Story or Bio
Kona’s journey began on the island of Kauai, where she was found near an old mill and brought to the Kauai Humane Society. It was clear she hadn’t had an easy start—she was scared and unsure, likely shaped by a life without much safety or care. I met her in April through the shelter’s field trip program, which gives adoptable dogs a chance to get out and connect with people. After spending the day with her, I knew she was special. A few weeks later, in May, Kona flew across the country to begin her new life with me and my husband in Belgrade, Maine. With time, patience, and love, she’s come out of her shell. She now enjoys everything—cuddles, car rides, quiet mornings, and running free. Kona’s story is one of healing, trust, and the quiet beauty of second chances. We’re so lucky to have her in our lives.
