Scarlet is ready for her first day of school.

In 2009 I lost the most loving Red Tabby to kidney disease and was heartbroken. My other cat was also very sad; he was missing his best friend.

A week after our loss I went to the Humane League in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where I lived at the time.

While it is suggested you do not adopt a cat that is the same breed/color as the one you just loss, I fell in love with Scarlet standing in her cage. I didn't know that Red Tabbies could be female. She had been surrendered a month earlier because her owners were moving and couldn't bring her with them.

Their loss was my gain. Scarlet has been a wonderful cat.
