Tell us your Rescue Story
In September 1999 as my husband was leaving for work, he encountered a very friendly calico cat but was in a hurry so called me to go and check on her. When I did and provided her with food, she was starving and from that day on that girl loved her food, hence we called her Large Marj. She got locked in our garage by the guys that were working on our gutter spouting and because we had 3 cats inside, we kept her in the garage during hurricane Floyd where she learned to hate storms from that day forward. We were sure someone had kicked her out of their home and we were determined she was going to have a good life from then on. We took her to the vets, where we learned she was spayed and about 3 years old but they had no space for her at that time so we brought her home and she acclimated to our three boys right away. When the vet's office called to say they had room for her, we told them she had found her furever home. A few weeks later, and after discovering that she had what appeared to be a cigarette burn on her back, she had her first seizure. For the next 9 plus years, she had a wonderful life, we took care of her needs, provided her with seizure medications and comforted her. We learned to recognize the signs of seizures. She had left sided weakness and she walked with a gait, some bathroom issues, but she was the sweetest cat on earth. She lived a very loved and full life until the day came when she had to cross the bridge. We were very thankful for her and that she found us. The Lord works in mysterious ways. We were blessed to have her and our boys loved her very much. Two passed on before her, and there was one left with whom she spent her last day with in a beautiful sunbeam.
