Tell us your Rescue Story
After our cat Jack passed away in November 2014 of complications from ocular melanoma, our hearts were broken. After Christmas of that year, we went to an adoption event and met the sweetest little girl, Zuma, who we immediately adopted. Unfortunately, Zuma had enlarged kidneys that restricted her bowl and the vet didn't catch this bizarre genetic defect in time and she passed away after about six weeks with us. To say we were devastated would be an understatement. We contacted the rescue looking for a kitty who needed a home and would enjoy the chaos of our house - including two small kids and two cat-loving dogs. My boys and I went to visit two black kittens at their foster's home nearby. Both were a bit shy but their foster mama assured us they were sweet. The male seemed a little less fearful so we opted to bring him home after his neuter to see if he liked us. On the morning of March 16th, he came home. On the evening of March 16th, my husband got home from work and was surprised to be greeted by a tiny black cat. He had no clue about our plan. He asked who this was, we told him it was Pete. He said hi to Pete, then sat down on the couch, and Pete snuggled right in. Since then, Pete has enjoyed attacking dog tails and chasing them around the house. He's our #1 protector against spiders and bugs. He doesn't love the kids (understandably) but flirts with every adult he meets. We couldn't imagine our lives without our little ball of spunk!
