Betsy was found by police in a stolen U-Haul truck that contained 19 abused and neglected cats of which Betsy was one, and 6 dogs. She was in a small rusty bird cage unable to move, lying in her own waste, and with no food and water. Her foster mom told me she was skinny, had dull fur that wasn’t even black, and didn’t trust any humans when she got her. She was named after a character in “ Mid-summer’s Night Dream” and came to her as Besty but she decided to change her name to Betsy. By the time I found Betsy at a Petsmart adoption event, she had been fostered and more socialized but was still a little leary of people. But, I knew she had potential. She was curious and got along with the other cats, and used to steal their toys. She was outgoing and energetic. I had just lost my 2 previous kitties I had for 14 and 16 1/2 years. I decided to give Betsy a try. It wasn't easy, but I hung in there with her and worked with her and she has become a really nice cat. She loves people, and gets along with the dog, has become a real pal, and a lap cat, and sometimes sleeps with me under the bed covers which I never thought would happen. She lets me hug and kiss her and rub her tummy too. It took a few years, but she eventually came around. She's a real character and a great companion.
