Tell us your Rescue Story
I'll start with Harley. When I first moved out to LA it was my first time I was with out a pet in the house. It was really hard not having a pet companion. A year later I found Harley at a shelter in Van Nuys. He was perfect. I always had a thing for black cats, so the choice was easy. He is the sweetest most loving cat I have ever met. From wanting to sit on my shoulders any chance he gets, to greeting any one that walks in the door, he just wants to be around you. Then it came time to move in with Michael. Harley had lived with his sister, which my roommate adopted and another cat as well. I was really worried that separation and loneliness were going to be a problem, as now he was an only cat. He adjusted well, but every day when he would here the door unlocking you could hear him meow from the other side. But the powers that be lead us to the best buddy Haley could ask for. Twoish years later Michael and I were at Petsmart buying Harley a toy when we stopped (as always) to look at the cats up for adoption. Every cat we saw just chilled in their bed, maybe opened an eye to look at you or didn't give you the time of day. But then, there was Cubby. Asleep in his bed till I gave a little tap on the glass. He perked up, walked right down the ramp and put his paw on the glass! Not kidding. He gave us the sweetest little meow and my heart broke. We read on his info card that he was 11ish years old and that his previous owner had passed away. He had now been in foster care for the past year. I turned down the isle and started to cry. That night Michael gave it the ok and tomorrow morning we would go and pick him up. We met Sandra and she let us play with him for a bit (he just wanted to sit in our laps) and a few hours later he was in our home. Sandra told us he was special and man was she right! Within a hour he was perched up on Michaels shoulder. Harley hissed for maybe, two days and then they were brothers. Their personalities are so similar. They are sweet and loving. Friendly and funny. If you ever spend the night, you're going to have two cuddle buddies, they LOVE guests. Harley won't let you be in the bathroom alone and Cubby can't wait to jump in the box you just brought home. But this is where you can always find them, sitting on the bed next to one another.
