Best Import Ever!
We adopted Simit when we were still recovering from the loss of a beloved furry friend. We were not sure we were ready for a new companion, but we spotted her lovely self at an adoption fair and something about her caught our attention. She was a calm, sociable 5-year old in need of a new home. We got to know her foster Mom, Ece, and learned that this beauty was from Istanbul (hence, her name, after the Turkish bagel) and a rare Turkish Van.

We knew we were in love when she ninja-swiped a catnip-filled rainbow during her first home visit. Since then, she’s taken over our hearts. She is super sweet, playful, and loves people. Her face transforms into a contented smile when she crawls on your lap for a hug. She loves to camp out on our pillows at night (although sometimes we wake up with a paw on our forehead). And she is enjoying playing with her new ‘little sister’ who we adopted recently to be her companion.

We are grateful for her every day, and we think she’s pretty happy about being stuck with us, too. In the end, we think it was her who saved us!
