Tell us your Kitten Rescue Story
We weren't suppose to meet Fiona Bellini. The rescue mom was bringing over the best friend of another kitty we had just adopted so he could have companionship. I personally wasn't looking to adopt because in the previous 8 months, I had lost my mother and my two 21 y.o. kitties I had had since they were kittens. I was on my hands and knees looking in the cage that had the kitty we were scheduled to meet when my roommate walked in with a second cage. When I turned around and looked there were 3 little faces staring out. I only locked eyes with Fiona for only a moment as the cage was being set down but I looked at my roommate and said, "Oh, I am in love." In the hour long visit, Fiona worked the room, determined that she was going to stay and stole the hearts of my roommate, my sister, and our other kitties and she never left the house. Two days later, I awoke feeling a slight pressure on my chest. I opened my eyes and there was Fiona sitting tall. As soon as she saw my eyes were opened, her mouth opened into a HUGE smile and she started stomping in excitement. Though I only had 15 months with her before she passed from a genetic kidney disorder, she accomplished her mission on earth and mended my broken heart and convinced me that love at first sight actually exists, and was an endless source of happiness and joy. Her memory still puts a smile on my heart.
