Tell us your Kitten Rescue Story
Legend has it, this feisty little black girl with the giant ears was intercepted with her two siblings by a friend of Kitten Rescue on their way to being surrendered, so the lucky littermates never “stepped paw” in a shelter!

Due to silly superstitions about black kitties and the fact that she and her beautiful white brother quickly developed a deep bond, the two kittens were put up for adoption as a package deal. Many potential adopters inquired about her brother, now named Boo, and I was one of them. He reminded me of my beloved kitty I’d lost earlier in the year. I went to meet both kittens at an adoption event soon after. Fortunately, I was first in line for them, but there were others waiting. I needed to make a decision – fast! I instantly fell for Boo, who, to this day, is quite possibly the sweetest cat in the known universe, but I must admit I was a little on the fence about Ninja. Luckily, I decided to take the plunge and adopt them.

The kittens would be staying with their foster for a few more weeks until they’d had their last round of kitten vaccinations. So I leaned into the crate to say “goodbye for now” to my two new babies, and Ninja rolled right onto her back and requested a belly rub. Looking back, I believe that’s when she stole my heart.

Soon enough, the two rambunctious kittens came to live with me, and their distinct personalities came into sharp focus. Where Boo was happy to snuggle into my lap and get petted forever, Ninja was brave and adventurous, determined to explore her new home at any opportunity. On her first day loose in the main area of my apartment, I turned around and found her on top of the door! Naturally, I love both of my Kitten Rescue kittens dearly, but my fierce girl-kitty Ninja holds a particularly special place in my heart.

What I didn’t know when I agreed to adopt them was that I was actually very sick. I had an infection that necessitated my being in the hospital three times during the first six months of our lives together. Ninja and Boo proved to be purrrfect nursemaids during my recovery. It dawned on me more than once that, had I known I was sick, I probably wouldn’t have adopted kittens when I did. Sure, I may have adopted later on, but it wouldn’t have been these kittens. Ask any of my friends, and they’ll tell you – I totally hit the jackpot with Ninja and Boo!

I am eternally grateful to Kitten Rescue for bringing my babies into my life and for the amazing work they’ve been doing for nearly two decades.
