Tell us your Kitten Rescue Story
This beautiful white boy was seemingly in demand the moment Kitten Rescue posted his picture in their Adoption Gallery. Named Bailey at the time (now called Boo), his furry face instantly reminded me of my beloved kitty who’d recently passed away. I’d been looking to adopt for a few months but hadn’t yet fallen in love. I called to inquire about Boo immediately and was told his personality was just what I was hoping for – outgoing, affectionate and super-sweet. I found out that he was up for adoption with his sister Minx (now Ninja), and they’d be at an upcoming adoption event.
I ventured out to meet them knowing that I might be making a decision that would impact my life for years to come. Was I ready? Were these kittens the right match for me? How would my resident kitty – Friskie a longhaired semi-calico I’d adopted from Kitten Rescue 13 years ago – feel about having two rambunctious kittens running around the apartment? Folks were lined up to meet Boo, but luckily for me, I was first in line. He was everything his foster had promised him to be – just the sweetest little guy ever. I had to decide right away because another woman was ready to adopt Boo and Ninja if I wasn’t. So…I took the plunge!
A few weeks later, my new fur babies came to live with me, and it’s been a total love-fest ever since. If the Guinness World Records had a category for Sweetest Cat in the Known Universe, Boo would easily take the title. He greets every person who steps foot in our apartment with his super-loud purr and an open invitation to snuggle. His silky fur is so soft that petting him is as much of a treat to the “petter” as the “pettee!” And if you happen to take a seat anywhere in the apartment (even on the toilet!), trust me, your lap will be instantly occupied.
Boo was also determined to make friends with Friskie, who begrudgingly tolerated the kittens but preferred to be left alone. He’d carefully snuggle with her and groom her, always seeming to intuitively know how much she would abide at any given time. In hindsight, I think maybe his kitty sixth sense picked up on the fact that Friskie was actually gravely ill, and he took it upon himself to comfort big stepsister in her final months. That’s just the kind of cat he is and why I consider him the Kitty-Love Ambassador. Friends literally visit my place just to get their “Boo time” – he’s truly that generous of spirit.
Three of the four amazing cats I’ve loved and shared my life with have been Kitten Rescue kittens. I owe the organization a debt of gratitude I couldn’t possibly pay in my lifetime.
