Tell us your Kitten Rescue Story
Tadhg had a rough start to life and came to KR with a broken hind leg and it took a long time to recover. I had lost a kitty 6 weeks prior and in a perfect example of serendipity Tadhg was ready to make the rounds and I was ready to accept a new life companion into my life. Our home was his first and last stop in the search for a Forever Home. He stole our hearts with his big eyes, markings, and having the softest coat I've ever touched. In fact, a friend commented on the first time petting him saying "It's like petting a cloud". I found his enormous paws an endearing feature. As the weeks passed, I realized that he was going to be a big kitty - at 8 months he was already 14 pounds and was proportional (See picture). We started researching breeds and we discovered that Tadhg is a Norwegian Forrest Cat and that males can reach 26 pounds when fully grown. Another trait is they LOVE dirt - he loves laying in the potted plants. He just had his first birthday and one paw completely covers a silver dollar. He can knock us down if he is chasing his brother around the house because of his speed and because Tadhg doesn't realize his size or power. Ah, teenagers (grin). Tadhg was hesitant of us and our other kitties so we allowed him to set the tempo of interaction. He discovered that he was loved, safe, constant supply of food, and very patient parents. He has become a loving kitty so happy with live that he kneads dough on our furniture while purring extremely loud with eyes closed and swaying his head side-to-side. He loves to cuddle and if he lands on you while sleeping, I guarantee you wake up from the thump, see the love in his eyes and start petting him with sleep being the last thing on your mind. I thank Kitten Rescue and especially his foster Mom, Ann for changing my house into a home. We all knew there was a piece in our lives that was missing, then Tadhg stepped in :)
